Omatua is situated amongst the rich, natural surroundings of Rissington, in Hawke's Bay.

The relaxed accommodation and event venue is set in quiet, peaceful countryside overlooking the Mangaone River, 20 minutes scenic drive from Napier. Accommodation for up to 48 of your guests plus extra space for camping/motor homes.

Omatua is a perfect all weather venue for your wedding. The extensive gardens with mature trees allow multiple wedding ceremony options and an abundance of photo opportunities. There is plenty of space for a marquee-style wedding. In the summer you have the option of holding both the ceremony and reception under the trees with twinkling lights, or two indoor reception options. In the cooler months, host your intimate winter wedding fireside in the ‘Von Dadelzen’ room.

The property and buildings are wheelchair accessible and include a commercial kitchen, bathroom facilities, and accommodation for guests.

The indoor venue ‘Riddell Lodge’ can seat up to 120 guests, or 200 standing for a cocktail style event. In addition, we have a smaller more intimate venue in the dining room that can seat 60 beside the open fire.

The Lodge and property sprawl over five acres of land. As soon as you arrive at this remote, picturesque location, you will feel a world apart and ready to slow down and relax.

Omatua gives you the flexibility to choose your own caterer and utilise the full commercial kitchen. Or, you could hire a food truck to park in the grounds and enjoy a more relaxed vibe with the supplied outdoor lawn games and picnic rugs and tables. Originally gifted to the Girl Guides in the 1960’s by the Absolom family, Omatua was purchased back in November 2019, and is currently family owned and operated by the Absoloms, with Katie managing the property.
