Hawke's Bay Today

5 things to do this weekend

-

1

FOR THE KIDS: Fancy a picnic and a movie? Picnic Cinema Outdoor Movies are screening Sonic Hedgehog 2 today at 4pm at Cornwall Park in Hastings. Whod’a thought that a blindingly fast blue hedgehog would be so amazing at saving the world? Jim Carrey’s evil Dr Robotnik and his sidekick Knuckles never saw him coming. Tickets from eventfinda.

2 TO MARKET WE GO:

Bay View Market Day, on today from 9am to 2pm at Petane War Memorial Domain in Napier, is Eskdale School's major fundraiser. Held on the last Saturday in November, it attracts thousands of people. Covid shut the event down last year but previously it has attracted thousands of people and more than 100 stalls. There are also some great rides and activities for children.

3

PARTY: Connected Vol. 2 brings Drum and Bass back to Napier tonight at The Cabana from 9pm to 1am. It’s an R18 event.

With Christmas just around the corner, Kiwis are hunting for unique gifts and one New Zealand business is providing just that.

Chuffed Gifts is reinventing the way Kiwis give and receive tourism experiences in New Zealand. 4

MUSIC: Feeling groovy? Then check out Vinyl Day tomorrow from 1pm to 5pm at The Urban Winery in Ahuriri. You can enjoy fine wines and the best of beer at a beautiful venue, while hearing your favourite songs resonating from vinyl grooves. Entry is free.

5

CAROLS: Kick off the festive season with beautiful advent carols, as the Waiapu Cathedral choir performs them in From Darkness to Light tomorrow from 8pm to 10pm.

With Chuffed, gift recipients still experience the pleasure of receiving a gift in the mail when they receive their Chuffed voucher and booklet, but the beauty is, they then get to choose the experience that suits them (rather than receiving a predefined voucher).
