Good news in small Stortford yarding

-

There was some good news in a small yarding of store lambs at Stortford Lodge yesterday. The offering of about 630 lambs was mostly of top quality which was reflected in the prices, especially for good lambs. Longerterm lambs also sold well compared with the last few weeks.

The cattle sale of about 1000 head was notable for the offering of Wallingford Station capital stock heifers and cows with calves at foot and four sire bulls. The historic station, longed associated with the Ormond family, has been sold and will be disappearing under pine trees.

Overall, cattle prices were steady for the very good quality offering, especially among the yearlings.

A big buyers’ bench was mostly from Hawke's Bay with others from Manawatu¯ and Gisborne.
