Cars fled crash scenes

Police are investigating after two cars fled crash scenes within two hours near Hastings overnight. Firefighters and police were called to Ormond Rd at 11.10pm after a power pole fell, cutting power to some in the area. Police on the scene found a pole across the road and tyre marks from a car skidding into it, but the vehicle had disappeared. Emergency services had left the scene by 3am. At 1.20am on Mangaroa Rd a car crashed into a parked car and then fled the scene. Inquiries are continuing.
