Get in the Christmas Spirit

National Distillery Company is celebrating Christmas this year with the launch of its bespoke cask rum programme.

The first of its kind in New Zealand, access to these casks means whether you’re a rum-lover or looking for an investment, you can be part of the National Distillery Company’s first ever vintage release cask rum.

“This is a rare opportunity to be part of New Zealand’s growing spirit-producing history”, says Blair Nicholl, founder and owner of National Distillery Company.

“There are lots of ways you can be involved, from purchasing your own barrels to going in with a group of friends. It’s a really fun thing to do if you get a bunch of mates together and then you can experience the excitement of aging your barrel together.

“As part of the journey, we’ll give you a VIP tour of the distillery each year so you can learn how your rum is made. And then, the best part is tasting it as it develops. Once your aged rum is ready, if you’ve decided

to bottle it, we’ll design a bespoke label for you so it’s truly your own!

“Another option is, if you’re looking for a safe investment, you can simply sell your barrel back to us after two years for a 15% profit. There is a growing market for investing in cask aged spirits so we thought this would be a great opportunity to offer our aficionados another option to be involved where everyone benefits.

“If a whole cask is too much and you just want to dip your toes in, there is also an option for a 10% share.”

National Distillery uses a blend of sugar cane and organic molasses to create a high quality base spirit. This is then aged in barrels which have been carefully sourced from awarding-winning bourbon whiskey distillery, Buffalo Trace.

Choose between a delicious golden or spiced aged rum which will be aged for two years. Or, you can age it even

longer for a dark aged rum.

“We’re really excited to start our aged spirits programme with rum, but keep your eyes peeled for the launch of our aged whisky programme which is coming soon!”, adds Nicholl.

It’s all about flowers and wine this week. Church Road winemaker Chris Scott tells us about their latest award-winning wine and if you have ever wanted to learn the art of flower arrangements, take a look at page 5.

Sophia Rieter has a range of workshops this month to help you bring a bit of nature into your home.

We also have books, puzzles, home trends and more.

Relax and enjoy.

Have a great week.
