Apology to iwi

The Prime Minister says Nga¯ti Maniapoto suffered greatly at the hands of the Crown. Jacinda Ardern went to the Ta konganui A-noho Marae in Te Kuiti to apologise in person on behalf of the Crown. It’s part of the treaty settlement which also awarded the iwi financial redress and the return of culturally significant sites.
