Kiwi Coll comes a cropper
New Zealand squash player Paul Coll’s title defence at the VAS Championships in England has come to an abrupt halt at the hands of world No 5 Ali Farag in straight sets. World No 10 Coll last year fought his way through qualifying to grab his biggest ever title win, but couldn’t repeat his run this year at St George’s Hill in Surrey. A resilient Farag moved the Kiwi into the back corners at will, the Egyptian winning it 11-9, 11-4, 11-7 in 45 minutes to reach the semifinals. “I think this is the best I’ve played all week, even compared to the US Open,” second-seeded Farag said.
