Next week­end is Labour Week­end, the days are longer and, as the weather gets warmer, en­ter­tain­ing tends to kick in. Shar­ing plat­ters are a su­per sim­ple and un­com­pli­cated way to en­ter­tain. Here are a cou­ple of re­ally easy and cost-ef­fec­tive ideas to cre­ate a tasty plat­ter to get your party started. We have two ver­sions of the good old retro cheese ball and a fresh and tasty edamame bean dip served with de­li­cious br­uschetta.

Cheese Balls

These retro cheese balls are al­ways a crowd pleaser and both ver­sions are taste sen­sa­tions.

Serves: Many Prep time: 20 mins

250g cream cheese

50g blue cheese

½ stalk cel­ery, finely sliced

½ small onion, finely sliced

1 tsp tabasco sauce

Or

250g cream cheese

50g blue cheese

½ small onion, finely sliced

2 Tbsp fruit chutney

1 tsp curry pow­der

1 tsp dried mus­tard pow­der

1 Mix all in­gre­di­ents to­gether in a bowl. 2 Roll into balls and place on a tray lined with bak­ing pa­per.

3 Place in fridge un­til you’re ready to serve.
