Tough as Nails Prime, 7.30pm Wednesday

The Amazing Race may be on ice for the foreseeable, but don’t worry about ol’ Phil Keoghan. He’s got other irons in the fire, like new competition show Tough As Nails.

This is the format we’ve all been waiting for. It’s Clash of the Codes but instead of sportspeople there’s a range of tradies, farmers and emergency workers doing hard-out challenges (Wheelbarrow skills! Brick laying!) to see who’s the toughest of the tough. Imagine Farmer

of the Year with a far bigger budget and you’re on the right track. Give this American version a look and cross every digit that they make a New Zealand version ASAP.

The Humble Yum Yum TVNZ OnDemand

The people have spoken following the recent season of Eat Well For Less NZ, and they’ve said, yeah, we should probably cut down on the Uber Eats and energy drinks. They’ve also said, we want more of hardcase host Ganesh Raj on our screens immediately. In The Humble Yum Yum (what a title) he shows us how to cook a range of simple, inexpensive and reasonably straightforward recipes — as Jamie Oliver does, but with a better command of spices.

Street Food: Latin America Netflix

When we think of the words "street food", most of us are probably transported to somewhere in Asia. That’s where the first series of Netflix’s Street Food went, too; from Michelin-star crab omelets in Bangkok to chole bhature in Delhi and putu piring in Singapore, it’s some of the best, most mouthwatering food television you’ve ever seen. The new series takes us to another global street food hot spot: Latin America. Mexican cuisine we’re familiar with (or at least we like to think we are), but what are they eating in Peru, Colombia and Bolivia? Prepare to feel extremely hungry.
