New Zealand’s capital city moved from Auckland to the more centrally located Wellington. The location of New Zealand’s Parliament had been a matter of debate for some years and after Whanganui, Picton, Port Underwood, Havelock and Nelson were all considered as possibilit­ies, an independen­t commission chose Wellington.
