Sharks hang on to hold out Dragons

-

Cronulla held on for a heart-stopping 28-24 NRL triumph over rivals St George Illawarra last night at Jubilee Stadium in Sydney. Leading 28-14 early in the second half after overturning a 14-6 deficit, the Sharks almost let it slip as the Dragons applied the blowtorch with tries to Zac Lomax and Mikaele Ravalawa. They managed to keep their line intact over the final 23 minutes, climbing back into the top eight with their sixth win of the season, while the Dragons dropped to 4-7. A week after beating the champion Roosters, the Raiders consolidated their place in the top half of the table with a tough 18-12 win over the Rabbitohs in Canberra last night. The result was marred by the loss of fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, with the former Warrior forced off with a badly broken finger.
