Fenton defended as Nix take hit

Wellington Phoenix coach Ufuk Talay has defended the actions of Louis Fenton after he was involved in a sickening collision in the Phoenix’s 1-0 loss to the Western Sydney Wanderers on Friday night. Wanderers striker Nicolai Muller was knocked out in the collision, with Fenton receiving only a yellow card. “Louis is not the type of player that comes into a challenge with any kind of malice,” Talay said. The Phoenix’s chances of claiming a top-two A-League regular season finish took another hit last night, with Melbourne City moving three points clear in second after beating Sydney FC 2-0.
