Nine multi-level terrace houses in Catalina Bay Apartments at Hobsonville Point are now on the market, writes SANDRA GOODWIN.

Aselect group of multilevel terrace houses with stunning proximity to the water is now on the market, fronting Hobsonville

Point’s Catalina Bay Apartments which are more than 50 per cent sold.

“These multi-level townhouse-style residences are literally 20 metres from the edge of the water,” developer Willis Bond’s Catalina Bay Project Director David McGuinness says.

“The view from their living rooms is superb. You’re fiveand-a-half metres up so you’re connected to the water but you’re high enough up to get an amazing view as well.”

Marketing of these nine Wharf Terraces has just started and already the two threebedroom terrace houses at each end are under contract.

The remaining seven twobedroom Wharf Terraces are priced from $1,745,000 including a carpark.

Each will have its own private walk-up entrance from a front landscaped plaza, in addition to secure access from the car-parking levels within the connected apartment building.

The entire 80-residence Catalina Bay Apartments complex, including onebedroom to three-bedroom apartments, high-specification four-bedroom penthouses, plus the Wharf Terraces, is being sold off the plans.

In excess of half the apartments have now sold but there are still good options available in the building which will offer a concierge service and movie theatrette.

It’ll enjoy nearby amenities such as cafes and restaurants, the renowned farmers’ market and the Hobsonville Point ferry service to the CBD.

The team delivering it developers Willis Bond, architects Architectus and construction company LT McGuinness - won the 2019 Sir Athfield Award for housing for completed Wynyard Quarter development Wynyard Central.

The Wharf Terraces will front two towers of apartments on a podium. Each terrace will have a more compact entry level topped with two other levels.

The second level will offer an ensuited master bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, a second bedroom, powder room, laundry and another entrance.

The third level’s kitchen dining room and adjacent living area will have sliding doors out to a covered front balcony and be complemented by the second bathroom.

The 10sqm balconies will bolster internal layouts of 112sqm to 116sqm.

“They’ll have a beautiful harbour right in front of them, set against the backdrop of native bush,” McGuinness says.

“The multi-level townhouse typology is really attractive in the way it breaks a residence up, creating some flexibility and separation between spaces.

“It probably has more of a traditional home feeling than an apartment.”

The Catalina Bay apartments complex is part of the mixeduse development Willis Bond is creating at the northern-most tip of Hobsonville Point.

The precinct is rich in history, taking its name from the Catalina flying boats onsite when Catalina Bay was the preserve of the New Zealand Air Force.

Barfoot & Thompson Projects Manager Matt Baird says, “Catalina Bay has been incredibly successful to date, exceeding all expectations and we expect the Wharf Terraces will be very popular.”

Work is scheduled to start onsite late this year, with the project scheduled to be completed around the end of 2023 to the start of 2024.
