“These apartments were designed for a square site, which has neighbours on three sides, and is located on a busy arterial route. The apartments were proposed as part of a mixed-use building – with the two-level apartments built above two floors of commercial and retail below, and with basement car parking. Due to the constraints of the site, and to ensure sunlight and ventilation to every room, the apartments were purposefully inward looking; each with a central courtyard. The upper-level main bedrooms open onto private roof gardens that overlook the courtyards below. The street elevation is screened, which offers both shade and privacy to the occupants.”
