Views to live for
Rarely are we given the opportunity to soak up the views of Kapiti Island and the sandy coastline of Paraparaumu Beach, making 79 Marine Parade that idyllic coastal retreat you’ve been dreaming of.
Just a few steps from the water, this modernised home features a decked balcony offering up unobscured water views. Your claim to fame will be that you’re guaranteed to be one of the last people to see the sunset every night.
Inside, character touches like matai flooring and art deco features create a warm, inviting ambience, welcoming you home, while splashes of colour fuel the imagination.
The family chef will enjoy wowing family and friends with delicious treats whipped up in the contemporary kitchen.
The hub of the home is an openplan living and dining area where high ceilings add a wonderful sense of light and space, and great indoor-outdoor flow takes you out onto the deck for easy entertaining. The deck wraps around the front of the home, ensuring plenty of spots for relaxing, cosying up in front of the outdoor fireplace and soaking up those glorious views.
Three double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a separate laundry complete this enviable home.
Drive on in to double garaging – and there’s plenty of off-street parking for friends and family.
You’re just a short stroll away to the shops, bars and restaurants, and the boutique shopping area with its popularSaturday market. All modes of transportation are nearby, including a shared path across the road for kids to ride their bikes and scooters.
Owners Chris and Helen have enjoyed the relaxed coastal lifestyle, the daily walks down the beach with the dog, paddleboarding, biking, weekend sport, entertaining, and of course the endless views and sunsets.
‘‘It’s a great house that has morphed as the children have grown. From the moment we saw it in 2010, we knew it ticked all the boxes – a view out to Kapiti Island, a large section with room for the kids to kick a ball, dedicated spaces for the trampoline and spa – as well as a double garage,’’ says Helen.
‘‘The house itself has character, with wooden floors throughout, art deco features, sash windows and high ceilings. The downstairs ‘‘family’’ cave and the backyard with its mini football pitch – kept the family sane during lockdown! We also love the outdoor fireplace for barbecues.’’
‘‘The views are spectacular’’, says Chris, ‘‘In winter you can even see the snow-capped Kaikouras. Every sunset is
Island in the winter months’’.
You’re less than a kilometre from the Kapiti Island ferry and airport, and three kilometres to the expressway for commuting, so the location couldn’t be handier.
Pop into the open home on Sunday to see this stunning seaside bolthole for yourself.
