Heaven on a stick

-

From what was just a few cattle-wire fenced paddocks five years ago, the owners have poured their heart and soul into developing 202E Tower Road into an oasis that has operated as both a thoroughbred spelling business as well as home-bred horse and cattle.

Step inside the homestead to experience the wonderful connection between indoors and out. High ceilings add a wonderful sense of space in the open plan living area, which spills out onto a paved outdoor entertainment area overlooking the swimming pool, lawn and tennis court.

‘‘It’s a home that supports the kind of lifestyle we had always dreamed of – horses on our back doorstep, room to move and the joy and laughter of our family close by. Our kids have loved the space, the pool, the tennis court and the freedom,’’ says the owner.

‘‘Living with a magnificent 180-degree view of the Kaimais is a gift that just keeps on giving, as you watch it move and change through the seasons from both inside the perfectlypositioned, east-facing living areas, or the outside.’’

Five bedrooms ensure plenty of room for growing families and guests. The master bedroom, featuring its own ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, is located well away from the other bedrooms, creating the ideal adult retreat.

‘‘I wake up every morning to that view from the master bedroom and can just walk out into the day through my own private doorway,’’ the owner says.

Recent upgrades ensure your ultimate comfort, including curtains and blinds, recessed ceiling lights, a kitchen facelift, bathroom updates, new toilets and a central ceiling-recessed reverse cycle heat pump, complimenting heat pumps at both ends of the house.

A tranquil park-like area, planted with a variety of established trees and roses, creates a lovely transition between the house and business end of the farm, with its post-and-rail fencing.

‘‘Our dream was to create the most efficient layout to house our own horses here, while maintaining an attractive aesthetic and a safe environment. We successfully created an equestrian haven with 15 interlinking post and rail paddocks, 14-foot gates and a glorious central grass race that runs the full length of the farm, easily accommodating horse and cattle movements as well as machinery of all sizes. The paddocks are super safe, and the horses just thrive there, with nothing to disturb or distract them, enjoying the best pasture you will ever see on a horse farm.’’

The paddocks consist of 11 half acre and four one-acre, all with troughs and full electric wiring.

There are dog and chook pens, a purpose-built horse loading ramp, turning circle for transport trucks and a fullyenclosed 30m remote door shed.

‘‘Our Gr.1 winning mare was put to rest under the teardrop in the driveway when we first arrived five years ago and has blessed the progeny we have raised and cared for on the farm with her grace and speed like an equine good luck charm.’’

The owners love being just two minutes from the centre of Matamata, yet a world away from any hustle and bustle. The property is handily located an hour from Hamilton, 50 minutes from Tauranga and one hour 45

minutes from Auckland airport.
