Premium Location for City Living

-

A sunny, captivating apartment that feels more like a home because of its inviting, comfortable interior and sheltered outdoor living is for sale in downtown Wellington.

The central three-bedroom residence, at 16C/9 Chews Lane, is on the 16th floor of the popular Chews Lane development, with Willis St on one side and Victoria St on the other.

‘‘This has to be the best location for city living,’’ vendor Greg Hamilton says. ‘‘You’re right in the heart of everything and just a three-minute walk to the waterfront where my wife catches the sunrise most mornings.’’

The premium location was critical to his family, who had been living in the country.

‘‘Another factor was the absolute quality of this Willis Bond development and the security of investment that provides,’’ he says.

‘‘We get great sun all afternoon and evening, and love the really awesome views of the town belt, Victoria University and cable car.

‘‘There’s also a good-sized deck that’s incredibly sheltered and is bathed in sun.’’

The configuration of the 114-square metre apartment also stood out. It’s one of only a handful in the building that optimises privacy and peace by using the living/dining area to separate the main bedroom suite from the other bedrooms.

‘‘So that’s great if you have teenagers or when guests come to stay,’’ Greg says.

The building’s communal facilities also appealed, from the theatrette, gymnasium and meeting/office spaces to the sunny outdoor living areas on the eastern and western sides.

There’s also secure bike parking and the apartment comes with a car park on a separate title that includes full-height storage.

‘‘We also liked the fact there’s no wasted space in the apartment,’’ Greg says, ‘‘and that most of the apartments in the building are owner-occupied. There’s a really good community vibe here.’’

The full-height front door of his home opens into an interior with open-plan living and a wellappointed entertainers’ kitchen with timber flooring and a breakfast bar.

The living/dining space faces west with floor-to-ceiling doubleglazing to maximise the city and Kelburn views.

It opens to a covered recessed deck that not only keeps the rain out but also is sheltered from both the northerly and southerly winds.

The deck can be accessed from two of the bedrooms, the smaller of which would be ideal for working from home.

These bedrooms share a wing with a separate laundry and a tiled bathroom with a bath, shower, vanity, toilet and underfloor heating.

The main bedroom suite has a similarly specified ensuite, two double-wardrobes with storage above, and the same striking views as the living area.

‘‘This is a truly special apartment in a superior development in one of Wellington’s most sought-after locations,’’ Wayne Sampson, of Tommy’s Real Estate, says.

‘‘It combines breathtaking views with fantastic natural light and an exceptional layout that makes it feel more like a home than a city apartment.’’
