Horowhenua Chronicle

Different figures

-

Reading the paper I was struck by the huge difference in the local debt that was shown by Michael Feyen and his associates. He keeps repeating this figure and it would seem to be starkly different from what the Auditor (Audit New Zealand ) confirmed and Mayor Duffy. Do the candidates understand that the prior to any election this audit has to be done and it is a true statement of the councils debt? Mr Feyen cannot, or will not, explain where his figures come from. I understand the article is an advert but if it is misleading then it’s a lie. To me it’s like the claim that Ross Campbell and Feyen made about the structural safety of the council building and turned up to a meeting in fancy dress of hard hats etc. Absolute rubbish. How can such a nonsense be tolerated by the ratepayers of Horowhenua?

If the claims are not the truth then they are lies and the people responsible should be held to account. Misleading the public during an election surely is an offence and whilst any investigation would take time to complete the results should be made public. (abridged) STEWART THOMPSON Levin
