Big future in Horowhenua property
Palmerston North property entrepreneur Emma Brown has invested in Levin having been impressed with the area after a chance visit to town last year.
“I was totally blown away by the exciting things happening here,” Ms Brown said. “Horowhenua has so many opportunities and enormous potential. I can really see a big future here.”
She specialises in renovating, updating, refurbishing existing homes and designing new builds. She has taken stock of Levin’s unique building diversity.
“There are considerable new builds going on, but there is also a huge variety of character homes, retro homes, the wonderful 1950’s and 60’s weatherboard homes. Basically there’s something to suit everyone.”
Ms Brown bought a section in Weld Street and has just completed a 192m2 investment property.
“I have taken feedback from the open homes,” she said. “It has told me that as the demographics here change, demands of people wanting to live here are changing too.”
“City dwellers heading here are keen on the character and 60s bungalows, but they are wanting all mod cons and updated decor,” Ms Brown said. “It’s a challenge I’m up to. Having completed full refurbishment of a home in Lower Hutt, I have a full appreciation of what’s entailed.”
Ms Brown is intending to set up a consultancy in Levin.
“This is an exciting time for Levin. I want to be a part of it,” she said “Many people feel overwhelmed or struggle with the whole process, whether it be building or renovating. It makes things much easier if you can brainstorm with someone who’s been there.”
