New extended season to open for heated pools

-

The Foxton Heated Pools begin a new extended opening season on Saturday 1 September, with free opening day water and land-based fitness classes.

Water-based classes run from 10am to 11.25am, and include AquaCise at 10am, AquaFit at 10.30am, and AquaStick at 11am. There will then be a half-hour break before the land-based MoveWell class begins at 12pm.

All water-based classes will be held at the Foxton Heated Pools. MoveWell will take place at Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom, either outside on the green or indoors, depending on the weather.

Aquatics Horowhenua Programmes and Events Supervisor Lewis Young said everyone was welcome to come along.

“All the classes are free, and people can come and go as they please. We want to give people a taste of what's available at the Foxton Heated Pools,” he said.

Regular classes start on Monday 3 September. Mr Young said this was the first year of the new extended season for the Foxton Heated Pools.

Last year, the pool opened in November. “One of the topics Horowhenua District Council consulted the community about during the development of the 2018-2038 Long Term Plan was the season length of the Foxton Heated Pools, and there was strong support for extending the season from five to eight months.

“The longer season will enable Aquatics Horowhenua to offer two full terms of Streamline Swim School and even more fun events than we did last year at the Foxton Heated Pools.”
