Greenheart’s plastic survey winners named

Greenheart Hub's survey on people's knowledge about which plastics can be recycled has been a success, says coordinato­r Amba Wright.

“We had three winners with a score of 15 out of 20. The most common plastic that got the wrong answer was the one about soft plastic / laminated foil packaging such as pet food and baby food packages.

“The next most common mistake was about empty deodorant aerosols and hairspray with the plastic cap. Most answered ‘no it can't be recycled,' but they can be recycled.”

12: Caps from fizzy bottles and water bottles — No

13: Aluminium tubes such as tomato puree (plastic cap removed) — Yes 14: Envelopes with windows — Yes 15: Shampoo bottles and food containers that have not been rinsed — No

16: Plastic coffee cups — No

17: Straws — No

18: #6 Styrofoam Plastic — packing foam, foam cups etc — No

19: Glad wrap — No

20: Soft plastic / laminated foil packaging such as pet food and baby food pouches — Yes
