Pedestrian seriously injured
A pedestrian, believed to be a young child, has been seriously injured after being hit by a car in Levin on Sunday afternoon.
The accident happened at the intersection of York and Salisbury streets around 4.15pm.
A police spokesperson said police and ambulance emergency services were called to the incident and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
Local diversions were put in place around the scene.
Police could not confirm what caused the accident or whether any charges will be laid.
The spokesperson said they understood the person remained in a serious condition.
