Taste trail key partners announced

-

The Horowhenua Taste Trail is proud to announce its key partners for the November event, including the return of Rabobank as principal partner.

Horowhenua Taste Trail chairman Antony Young says as the Taste Trail is a not for profit organisation, it relies on financial support from partners and sponsors to put on the event.

“We are delighted to have so many supporting partners on board to help us deliver our unique event,” he said.

Now in its third year, the Horowhenua Taste Trail provides an opportunity to get behind the scenes with some of the Horowhenua’s leading food producers and to sample delicious fresh produce, directly from the source.

Partners on board for the event include Rabobank, PGG Wrightsons and Countdown plus Horowhenua District Council, Oji Fibre Solutions, BNZ, MG Marketing and Horizons Regional Council, Ravensdown, Electra Group, Horowhenua Motor Company, Fluker Denton Limited, CS Law, Fonterra and Federated Farmers.

Attracting more partners each year has allowed the event to continue to expand and develop, said Young.

“PGG Wrightson supports a range of farmers and other food and agribusiness enterprises throughout New Zealand, including many here in the Horowhenua region.

“This strong commitment to the Horowhenua region’s food and agribusiness sector makes PGG Wrightson an ideal partner for the Taste Trail and we’re

thrilled to have them supporting the event,” he said.

PGG Wrightson regional manager Duncan Fletcher said the Taste Trail provides a terrific opportunity for the producers involved to showcase their operations and for the public to learn more about food production.

At each stop on the trail participants will be taken on an experience which showcases the local produce.

From factory tours to gourmet food experiences, tastings to farm tours, the trail will showcase the journey our locally made food takes from paddock to plate.

Producers this year include Woodhaven Gardens, Lewis Farms (home to Tendertips Asparagus and fresh strawberries), Genoese Pesto, Turk’s, Woody’s Free Range Farm, Levin Eel Trading, Thoroughbread Foods, The Ultimate Egg, The Baked Dane and Bagrie’s Dairy Farm.

The event welcomes people of all ages, and is family friendly.

Tickets will be on sale Monday, October 1. Anyone wishing to join in the Trail can find out more information at the Taste Trail website www.tastetrail.co.nz or Facebook Page @horowhenuatastetrail.
