Showing region’s best on Taste Trail

-

Horowhenua’s successful Taste Trail is gearing up for another busy event on Saturday 28 November so mark it on the calendar or diary now. The Taste Trail is into its third year and it promises to be another fantastic day out with some new producers to visit.

The Baked Dane and The Ultimate Egg are new to the trail and join Genoese Pesto, Thoroughbread Foods, Turk’s free range chicken, Woodhaven Gardens, Lewis Asparagus and Strawberry Farm, Woody's Free Range Pork, Levin Eel Trading and Bagrie Dairy Farm.

At each stop you will experience how their food products are made, processed and packaged — often for important international markets. It helps gives a real understanding of paddock to plate, or factory to supermarket.

It's a massive commitment to be a part of the trail and takes many months of preparation.

If you want to extend the experience there’s also a number of side events organised. These include a Chef’s Talk with Annebelle White, Horowhenua Long-Table Dinner, Lewis Farms Champagne Breakfast and many more.

Grab your tickets from www.tastetrail.co.nz, and it’s fun getting a car load of mates together for the tour.

Some work places are making this event their Christmas staff function which is a great idea.

This event makes everyone realise how important Horowhenua's primary production sector really is. It generates 1750 jobs and around $140m in economic activity per year.

The Ka¯ piti Food Fair is also approaching on Saturday December 1 at Paraparaumu. This well-established event attracts celebrity chefs like Brett McGregor who will be showing off his creative flair and passion for food.

Both events are a wonderful opportunity to showcase what our region's food and beverage businesses have to offer.

Plenty.
