Mercedes-Benz adds GLC 200
Mercedes-Benz has extended the appeal of its GLC midsize SUV family with the introduction of a new entry level model.
Available in the SUV bodystyle — but not the GLC Coupe — the new GLC 200 SUV lowers the New Zealand market entry point to the GLC range to $82,900.
The GLC 250 SUV remains at $96,900 to become the second tier of the GLC lineup.
The new entry model is powered by a 2.0-litre, fourcylinder turbocharged petrol engine developing 135kW output and 300Nm of torque. It drives via the 9G-Tronic nine-speed automatic transmission and in a first for the MercedesBenz GLC range it is rearwheel-drive rather than being equipped with the 4Matic all-wheel-drive system.
Standard features include Parking Pilot with a 360-degree camera, an Easy Pack tailgate, Entertainment system with 7.0-inch colour display and touchpad control, satellite navigation system, digital radio, media interface with smartphone integration, keyless start, electric front seats, black ash wood trim, Artico upholstery, LED head-lights, Active Parking Assist, Dynamic Select driving mode selector, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Additionally, the GLC 200 is equipped with a suite of Mercedes-Benz safety features including nine airbags, Pre-Safe accident anticipatory system, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, Attention Assist, and Blind Spot Assist (passive).
“Following the launch of the AMG GLC 63 S earlier this year, we are excited to bring the final variant of the GLC range to New Zealand,” said Ben Giffin, Mercedes-Benz New Zealand executive general manager.
“The GLC range now offers something for any customer, providing the widest range of model variants in the increasingly popular luxury SUV segment.
“The new GLC 200 offers the best value in the competitive luxury mid-size segment, while the AMG GLC 63 S remains the only mid-size SUV available with a V8 twin turbo powertrain.”
The GLC range comprises GLC 250 petrol and GLC 250d diesel four cylinder models and the performance MercedesAMG GLC 43 and GLC 63 S models with a price range now from the new $82,900 entry point to the Mercedes-AMG GLC 63 S Coupe at $189,900.
