Women’s fours team de­served their tri­umph

Two weeks ago the Levin Bowls Women’s Fours cham­pi­onship be­gan with teams play­ing two out of three to qual­ify. At the end of play two teams had qual­i­fied.

The fi­nal was played in beau­ti­ful con­di­tions with the win­ners be­ing the team of Dot Col­lis, Viv Hud­son, Jenny Watt and Paula Ver­coe.

They played very well and thor­oughly de­served their win over Bea Gray, Ann Malone, Kathy Field and Lor­raine Waugh.

Last week­end saw the com­mence­ment of the Men’s Cham­pi­onship Triples. Six teams qual­i­fied with the team of Gerry Welply, Ian McQueen and Danny Mad­den win­ning through to the semi-fi­nal over Des Patch­ing, Paul Kirkby and Den­nis Wolff.

The team of Neil Bovey, Gary Wylie and Stacey Thomas won the other semi­fi­nal over Ray Hud­son, Gary Burns and Ross McLean. Fi­nal to be played at a later date.

Sun­set bowls has started for the sea­son on a Wed­nes­day night at 5.30pm but please be there at least quar­ter of an hour be­fore. Flat shoes to be worn. Tea is avail­able for $5 af­ter play.
