Tem­po­rary home found for re­cy­cling

The Green­heart Hub is still work­ing on get­ting the roof of the old Fox­ton race­course Tote build­ing re­placed.

The Race­course of­fi­cials have come to their aid, of­fer­ing a tem­po­rary home for the art re­cy­cling arm of the Green­heart Hub un­der the grand­stand.

“Ren­o­va­tions have started,” said Green­heart Hub co­or­di­na­tor Amba Wright. “Two or­gan­i­sa­tions have al­ready emp­tied their stor­age from the space. There are just a few bits from an­other or­gan­i­sa­tions to clear and we are ready to start fresh­en­ing up with paint.” The old car­pet was ripped up on Mon­day, cob­webs re­moved, fol­lowed by a good sweep and it is al­ready look­ing like re­mark­ably bet­ter. We are hope­ful the Art Re­cy­cling will be mov­ing in be­fore this year comes to an end.”

In the mean­time things are evolv­ing at the race­course, mov­ing in next door to Green­heart Hub is a Men’s Shed.

“Our web­site will be up and run­ning in the near fu­ture, which will make it eas­ier to keep an eye on where our pro­ject is at, what re­cy­cled prod­ucts are avail­able to pur­chase and the work­shops that are on of­fer,” said Amba. Green­heart Hub has been of­fered a tem­po­rary space un­der the grand­stand to start its art re­cy­cling busi­ness be­fore the end of the year.


Green­heart Hub now has sun hats avail­able, which are made to or­der for $40.
