Work­place ac­ci­dent vic­tim named

Po­lice have re­leased the name of the man killed in a work­place ac­ci­dent at Fletcher Re­in­forc­ing in Levin on Mon­day.

He was 58-year-old An­drew Robert d’Au­riol from Levin.

Cir­cum­stances of the ac­ci­dent have not been re­leased as Work­safe is car­ry­ing out an in­ves­ti­ga­tion, al­though Po­lice con­firmed it in­volved a fall.

Fletcher Build­ing CEO Ross Tay­lor is­sued a state­ment in re­sponse to the ac­ci­dent.

“On be­half of Fletcher Build­ing I want to ex­press my deep­est sym­pa­thies to the fam­ily and friends of our con­trac­tor who died in an in­ci­dent at our Fletcher Re­in­forc­ing site in Levin.

“This is dev­as­tat­ing news for those who knew and loved him. The site has been closed and we are sup­port­ing our staff through this dif­fi­cult time. We will be work­ing closely with the Po­lice and Work­safe.”

Mr d’Au­riol leaves be­hind a wife and two chil­dren.

A ser­vice will be held for him at The Sal­va­tion Army Wor­ship and Com­mu­nity Cen­tre, Durham Street, Levin, on Sat­ur­day, 1 De­cem­ber, at 1pm.
