Sum­mer Races are back in Otaki

The In­ter­is­lander Sum­mer Fes­ti­val has been a must-do fam­ily event for 13 years and it is re­turn­ing to the O¯ taki Race­course on Mon­day Jan­uary 7, 2019 for an ac­tion-packed day of fun in the sun.

The fes­ti­val has some­thing for ev­ery­one, with live mu­sic, tasty bites, all-day en­ter­tain­ment and ex­hil­a­rat­ing races.

This year’s fes­ti­val fea­tures 29 races tak­ing place across the coun­try from Whangarei Rac­ing Club in the win­ter­less north to Otago Rac­ing Club in the breath­tak­ing south.

O¯ taki-Ma¯ ori Rac­ing Club spokesman Ben Jami­son says the In­ter­is­lander Sum­mer Fes­ti­val has grown in pop­u­lar­ity year on year, es­tab­lish­ing it­self as a notto-be-missed event on O¯ taki’s cal­en­dar. “O¯ taki res­i­dents look for­ward to the In­ter­is­lander Sum­mer Fes­ti­val ev­ery year and this year is no ex­cep­tion. “Head­ing to the races with friends and wha¯ nau has be­come a sum­mer tra­di­tion here in Otaki.”

The youngest race­go­ers can ex­pect ac­tiv­i­ties rang­ing from bouncy cas­tles and sack rac­ing to fash­ion shows. The fes­ti­val of­fers a full day of af­ford­able en­ter­tain­ment with free en­try for chil­dren un­der 17 and adult tick­ets from $10. Pack your bags, pop on your sun­nies and get ready for a day of fam­ily fun.
