Christ­mas in Park a big hit in Fox­ton

Christ­mas in the Park, held in Te Awa­hou-Fox­ton re­cently, at­tracted a large crowd of 700- plus to the event. It was hosted by a lo­cal ukulele group from Fox­ton Beach, Nukulele Boom led by Viti Taylor.

Lo­cal busi­nesses, peo­ple from both near and far helped make the event a huge suc­cess. Mayor Michael Feyen opened the event.

Lo­cal schools, choirs, dancers, bands, pipers, soloists per­formed . MCs Am­ber Ching-Taylor and Jack Paki kept the crowd in­formed about the acts and also gave out do­nated spot prizes.

Nukulele Boom’s spokesper­son, Viti Taylor, said the venue, the Fox­ton Pri­mary School field do­main, was per­fect. The weather was favourable and over­all it was a fun, fam­ily event.

Locals are ex­cited to know that this was just the be­gin­ning for Fox­ton and the or­gan­is­ing com­mit­tee says it is look­ing for­ward to an­other event in 2019.
