Rail better option

Horowhenua Chronicle - - NEWS -

They have finally decided where the expressway will go. The mayor says that’s great because when we get it finished we will not have so many trucks going through the town centre. Well, yes, that would be a big improvement. But we could do that with rail and save the environment. It’s a far more efficient form of transport. Just think how many containers can be hauled by just one rail engine, compared with how many a truck can take.

It is obvious that from an environmental point of view, rail is a far more efficient form of transport. And in this day and age of climate change, why are we still building roads and encouraging more and more consumption of fuel? When are we ever going to learn?
