On-court courtesy campaign

-

Netball Horowhenua bosses are clamping down on bad behaviour and negative sideline comments.

A public notice issued this week said any spectators “getting ugly” would be asked to leave the courts.

The notice was aimed at all players, spectators, coaches and management and came with a warning that “any disrespect towards umpires or players will not be tolerated”.

“Players, coaches, and managers are all subject to the International Rules of Netball and can be disciplined by the umpire for a range of infringements. This can include cautions, warnings, and suspensions.

“Spectators who are not willing to show reasonable courtesy can, and will, be asked to leave the courts by the governing committee . . . let’s continue to play our game with great positivity and skill that has been on display.”
