Another member loses 10kg at 24/7 Fitness Nick shares his experience of his weight loss journey

-

“It all started with my wife going on an eating plan that was done through the gym and so, because she is the cook in the family, I ended up eating the same sort of thing as her and I went oh ok,

this isn’t that bad.

I started to notice the weight was dropping off and I was feeling a lot better, I had more energy, I didn’t make the grunt when I stood up from a seat as I had been before that. It was a major lifestyle change in one respect but also in one that I didn’t really notice, I was just sort of eating better.

So with that I decided to go to the gym and workout and take it to the next level. So I signed up to to 24/7 fitness and haven’t looked back, it’s been great. I had already lost 10kg, and signed up to their 10kg promise with the intention to keep on going.

I joined up to the running program to prepare for the 5 km Great Forest Run. I would have never imagined myself running before. I used to say to people if you see me running, run away in the same direction because that means I’m running away from something really bad. It was a massive goal that I ticked off, I don’t even know how to describe how much of an accomplishment that it is. I actually quite enjoy running now.

I can even feel the difference in my job when I’m checking insulation under floors. I would always have to hold on to the side of the house to get up and now I can get up, no problem and its awesome. I’m just like on the inside going, Yass! I did that. This might seem like something so small and something so stupid for somebody that hasn’t been overweight in their life, but when you have been there, and you drop a whole lot of weight, those little things are just so satisfying.

Even going to buy new clothes. I’ve dropped 3 dress sizes. It’s really difficult buying large clothes, there’s not much of a range and its often quite expensive. . So being at the weight I am now, I can actually buy clothes that look good and I don’t have to go to the big tall men’s section

If you’re thinking about losing weight, just start. Talk to people, talk to the staff here, research and then just do it. You’re never going to get anywhere if you just continue thinking about it, you have just got to do it and do it consistently - just keep doing it. If you don’t notice results straight away, don’t give up, just keep doing it until results come; because they will show, if you put in the effort, it will come.”
