Opening up Your Outdoor Spaces

-

During the spring and summer months your trees will have been spending their time putting on new growth and leaves. Under the glorious sun having trees to cast some cool, refreshing shade can make your garden the perfect haven from the summer heat.

But as autumn approaches and our daylight hours get shorter, those lovely, shade throwing trees could be blocking out more light than you’ve anticipated, making your garden and house cold, dark and gloomy in the winter months to come.

Careful pruning and thinning of your trees can open up your outdoor spaces, making them lighter and brighter, while also helping to keep your trees healthy, reducing their size and making them easier to care for in the future.

If you’re planning to landscape in the cooler months, thinking about tree placement is an important part of the process. Placing larger trees towards the back of your property provides shelter and structure without closing off your outdoor space, allowing light in all year round.

Also think about any structures you are planting around. Houses and garages do not always fare well when large trees that are planted near them fail!

Now is a great time to speak to the experts about how to prune your trees and shrubs to open up and brighten your garden. As arborists we can help consult on your landscaping, so that you can get the best out of your garden. We can also discuss how you can work with what may already be in place, to open the space up and let the light in.

We want to help you create an outdoor space you can enjoy all year round and regular tree maintenance can help keep your outdoor spaces looking good!
