Search for missing heirloom rug

-

A Horowhenua resident has lost track of a rug through moving house and going away for a while as the rug was being cleaned.

They are anxious for it to be returned.

The large 8ft x 12 ft (2.4m x 3.6m) Oriental style greentoned rug was picked up in Shannon for cleaning by a local Levin company.

Since the owners were moving house when notified that the rug was ready, they asked for it to be stored until they were ready for it to be delivered or picked up.

When the owners were ready to receive the rug the phone number originally used was no longer active, so the owners visited the company's website, followed the Google map to the company's advertised location only to be told “we closed that business

five years ago”. More than six months later there has been no contact from the person who took the rug away for cleaning.

So where is this rug now? It was a family heirloom about 40 years old, purchased in the United States, and brought to New Zealand 17 years ago. The owners are very anxious to have it returned to them.

A reward is offered for its return to the rightful owners. If you know where it is or if you have it, please return in to the Horowhenua Chronicle office, or email us at news@chronicle.co.nz or ring 06 3660257 to let us know where it is with contact details of whoever may now possess it.
