Having the energy to heal

-

Taranaki-born Brett Elliott began his journey into natural medicine in the early 1990s when his own health began to deteriorate. He’d spent 10 years in hard manual work which resulted in severe spinal injuries requiring major surgery. Reluctant to go down the surgery route, Brett’s search for alternative options led him to herbal medicine, which quickly became his life’s work.

In his new book Unconditional Energy Healing, Elliott has combined his understanding of physics, the universe, and human biology into a simple healing method that anyone can learn and apply to themselves.

We asked him some questions:

What inspired you to write your book?

Over the course of 25 years in practise as an energy healer and medical herbalist I have found that the most important factor in people’s healing process is understanding how they can help themselves. It’s this journey of learning to understand what causes illness and what triggers healing on the deepest energy level that most people struggle to grasp. I wanted to provide a way for even the most sceptical, and for the everyday non-medical person to understand and apply healing energy.

Why did you decide to study the healing arts?

I have a sceptical mind, so I never believed in anything I couldn’t prove, until I started experiencing healing energy directly in my early 20s. It happened unexpectedly, and it was so profound that I knew I had to find a rational explanation. I started with researching physics, the universe, and spirituality as I knew their must a connection between the these fields of knowledge.

Why did you study herbal medicine?

Herbal medicine came a little later when I started looking for a practical way of including the energy aspect of healing with a tangible form of proven natural medicine.

How many people have you helped since studying herbal medicine and the healing arts?

I know that over 120,000 people have used my program worldwide, but I have also seen several thousand face-to-face in my clinic. My passion is to reach as many people as possible with messages of hope and the knowledge that healing is available direct from nature, and we just need to understand where to look.

What are the benefits of your book?

I think healers and energy healing have been largely relegated to the realm of extremely weird, or wacko. My goal to reach those who may be on the fence, or may have a more rational, scientific or medical mindset and just curious about the possibility of energy healing. I put it into a scientific framework and use commonly accepted principles to explain what healing energy is and the nature of its movement and activity in the human body.

What is the most common thing you help people with?

The things that respond most quickly to energy healing are mostly related to the nervous system. These include physical pain, stress, anxiety, depression, headaches, and also gut and digestive issues. Healing can be very supportive with cancer and help reduce the side effects of conventional treatments. Herbal medicine is most effective with metabolic and hormonal issues such as those commonly blood tested for by your doctor.

What is a common misconception about herbal medicine and the healing arts?

The most common misconception is that they are fringe, alternative, or unproven, when in-fact they are older than any other form of medicine. They are actually our traditional medicines. Our modern medical system is failing us, and the World Health Organisation has a strategy in place to integrate “traditional complementary medicines” worldwide during this decade.
