Providing online retirement planning

Electra Business and Innovation Awards finalist profile: Enrich Retirement Limited

-

■ Tell us what your business

does. Enrich Retirement (www. enrichretirement.com) is an online retirement planning information and resource service for people approaching retirement or newly retired. It offers two levels of membership — free and premium (monthly or annual subscription) and uses affiliate marketing to grow its client base. It is unique to New Zealand and probably the world. It offers written articles, courses, quizzes, calculators, video interviews, webinars, links to other resources (websites, books, etc). It is the most comprehensive website for retirement information in New Zealand and beyond. Wherever possible local experts are used to contribute information to the site. Affiliates are other businesses who are in a sector with a similar client base — for example financial advisers and health professionals. We also sell directly to the public, who can sign up online.

■ How did the business start and grow to where it is today?

Enrich Retirement is a new business which has been in development for around three years. It was conceived over the last 10 years and established when I sold my local financial planning business Moneymax. The business has been accepting subscriptions for just a few months and has significant potential for growth.

■ What sets you apart from others in your field? The website is the

most comprehensive source of information on retirement planning.

It covers not just financial information but lifestyle information — health, mindset, setting retirement goals, legal issues, etc. It is extremely cost effective for users in that the annual fee is less than the cost of one hour with a professional adviser. Users can work through the information at their own pace in their own home at a time that suits them. The information is presented clearly and simply and in a variety of formats including written and visual so it caters to different learning styles.

■ What was your reaction to being named as a finalist? What

category/s did you enter? It was exciting to learn that I had been named as a finalist as there are some very impressive entrants and the competition is tough. I have entered the professional/business/ technology category and the innovation and new/emerging subcategories.

■ What do you like about operating your business in the Ka¯ piti community? Ka¯ piti is a great place to set up a business. There’s a large network of people with a wide range of skills to call upon. The business community is extremely supportive and people are always willing to lend a hand. We have some very talented people in Ka¯ piti.

■ What does a general day at your

business involve? Every day is different. My activities range from writing blog posts to doing radio interviews, responding to media requests, filming interviews, running webinars and meeting with my website designer. Fortunately, these are all things I love doing.
