Athletics day illustrates school spirit
Healthy competition between houses
It is hard to believe that there are only a few weeks left of Term 1. We would like to take this opportunity to celebrate a few student success stories. Despite some challenges with the weather, last week we were finally able to hold our annual athletics day, which unfortunately did not take place in 2022 due to Covid.
The day was an absolute success and it was great to see so many students actively participating in a range of athletic events, particularly our junior students. There was an incredible amount of healthy competition between each of our school houses, who gave 110 per cent throughout the day, and in the process demonstrated all of our school values.
We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the following students who qualified for the Manawatu¯ Intersecondary Schools Athletics; Timoti Parfitt (junior boys Javelin), Logan-Lee Kauika (intermediate boys 100m sprints) and Larvarn Wood-Kimura (senior boys 100m sprints). Kei runga noa atu ta¯ koutou mahi.
Coming up we have 16 students and five staff who will be participating in the annual Relay for Life this weekend, to be held at Riverside Walkway in Palmerston North. This will be our 14th year of participation in this extremely important event, which helps to support those who have survived cancer. All donations and funds received during the event are then distributed locally within the region to continue to help the cause and raise awareness. If you are free this Saturday and would like to see our students in action, feel free to come down the Riverside Walkway in Hokowhitu — we would welcome your support.
