Weraroa Road, Levin Wastewater Reticulation Renewal

To ensure a more reliable wastewater network, Horowhenua District Council contractor, Higgins Contractors Levin, are renewing and upgrading the existing wastewater main on Weraroa Road, Levin.

The work began on Monday 25 September 2023 and is expected to be finished by Thursday 21 December 2023, depending on weather.

Working hours are from 7am to 5pm on weekdays.

A new sewer main will be installed along Weraroa Road's southbound lane, as well as lateral pipelines and manhole installations at the Weraroa Road and York Street intersection. This work is a continuation of the Kings Drive upgrade which began in May.

For your safety and the safety of others, please use caution in the area and abide by any temporary speed restrictions and enclosed areas – these may change daily while construction is underway. All excavations will be covered and secured.

Contractors may need to access gully traps and excavate within some properties along the boundary to verify the location of existing laterals.

There will be access to properties in the area during this phase of construction, but it could occasionally be limited. Those impacted will be informed immediately.

Thank you for your patience as the work is being undertaken. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Services closure Kia ora Horowhenua

We know we will probably get a bit of flack for this, but for the first time ever, the Horowhenua District Council team are taking the day away from our normal 8 to 5’s to dive into some important training, prioritisation and team building. Our offices and facilities will be closed on Friday 13 October. This includes the aquatic centre, community centres/ libraries, and main office.

We know this might not be the best timing for some of you, and we're sorry for any hassle it might cause. But here's the deal: just like any other effective business, we need time to work on the business as well as in it. This day is all about making our services even better for you in the long run and enabling what matters today and in the future. We're all in this together, and we promise to be back – inspired, focused and ready to serve you.

We’re required by law to keep our voting booths open, so these will still be available. The voting booth at Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō will shift to the Youth Space for the day, the Civic Centre and Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom voting booths will operate as normal. For any urgent queries, you can still contact us by phone 06 366 0999 (which will be managed by our after hours team).

Thanks for your support,

The Horowhenua District Council team
