Market closes up shop
Doug Hockey was one of the last stall holders to pack up at the Kaikoura School Market on Saturday.
He was been selling his native plants at the market, regularly, for 10 years.
The attendance was ‘‘so-so’’ said Hockey ‘‘although we had 9 or 10 stall holders, but in summer we have 30.’’
Market organiser Marlene Ingram was a teacher at the school for 30 years and remains on the PTA.
The market, which has been running for 24 years, operates as a fundraiser for the school. All stallholders are welcome, with an attendance fee of $10.
The market is closed now until 15th September.
Market days are advertised, and are held more frequently in the high summer season.
