Mr Rangi said while he has moved to the Hutt Valley, and did not have the profile of some of his eastern ward colleagues, he was not neglecting his council duties.

‘‘ It’s about keeping up the momentum now, continuing to make decisions that have longterm impacts (in Porirua). I think the best measure of a councillor is how proactive they are and how they vote (in meetings). Do they back up what they say?’’
On the scores of Mr Seiuli and Mr Rangi, the mayor said ‘‘they bring a perspective to this council and I value their contribution’’.
