Kerr signs English T20 deal
Promising young White Ferns spinner Amelia Kerr has signed a contract with the Southern Vipers for the English women’s Twenty20 competition in 2018.
Kerr, 17, of Tawa College, will join up with White Ferns skipper Suzie Bates at the Vipers, who were beaten finalists last year.
Their T20 season begins on July 22 and Kerr, who featured for the White Ferns at the 2017 World Cup, has taken 36 wickets in 25 internationals matches at an average of 20.27.
She made her debut for New Zealand aged just 16 and will be captained by Bates at the Vipers, who are based in Southampton on England’s south coast.
England’s T20 competition, known as the Super League, features six teams and has expanded from five to 10 matches per side in 2018.
There will be 32 matches this season and the competition concludes with a finals day on August 27.
