Memorial trophy played for

The O¯ taki 9 Hole Golf group and Wellington Golf recently hosted a combined 9 Hole Field Day, which was played between members of the Wellington region.

It was also an opportunity to play for a new prize, the Lynne Walker Memorial Trophy, in memory of Lynne Walker, a well-known 9¯hole golf member who represented Otaki for over 20 years at open days and interclub fixtures.

Walker often played in tournaments with Russell Parker from Feilding who made and donated the trophy for the event. Cheryl Harper worked closely with Steve Weir (Wellington Golf) to fit the memorial trophy into a fundraiser for breast cancer.

Over 80 women and men participated and enjoyed a lunch and numerous raffles to raise around $1100.

The interclub winners were Pauatahanui and the Lynne Walker Mavis Yee and Raewyn Young.¯The team Memorial Trophy was won by Otaki pair event was won by O¯ taki.

The weather did not dampen spirits and a great day of friendship and remembrance was enjoyed by all who participated.
