Artist exhibits
Manawatu¯ artist Vonnie Sterritt is the guest artist at Kapiti Gallery’s latest exhibition opening today. Vonnie is a fulltime landscape painter, working independently and on commission. She is known for her parochial understanding of the Manawatu¯ . Her vibrant paintings depict the regions, river, land, light and colour. Vonnie, who has won local and international acclaim, has been an invited exhibitor several times in the United States, representing New Zealand landscape painting. At home she exhibits as a guest and solo artist and in professional galleries. Along with Vonnie’s work members of the Kapiti Arts & Crafts Society have taken up the challenge of an in-house Kapiti Arts & Crafts Award. This year the challenge is to create a piece of art or craft no bigger than 150mm x 150mm, (6 inches x 6 inches). The exhibition closes on September 9. Kapiti Gallery is at 192 Matai Rd, Raumati Beach, and is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 3pm. The gallery can be opened for groups by phoning 04 9028549.
