NZ Post will continue at Coastlands

- Rosalie Willis

It may have taken a while to find, but New Zealand Post’s Paraparaumu postal services have found a new home after it announced last year it would be moving out of the combined Paraparaumu NZ Post and Kiwibank branch.

NZ Post announced on Friday they will partner with Coastlands Paper Plus to continue postal services starting from September 27.

This comes after successfully introducing the standalone model in 2016 with Kiwibank and NZ Post services moving away from operating in the same premises.

NZ Post head of retail Mark Yagmich said they announced plans to seek an agency partner to deliver postal services, such as buying a stamp and sending a letter, on NZ Post’s behalf last year.

“We’re really pleased to announce we are working with Rob Clarke of Coastlands Paper Plus.

“They really understand the community and their staff will be receiving extra training so they will be ready to help when postal services move to them from September 27.

“Until changes take place, customers can continue to access postal products and services and the box lobby offered at Paraparaumu NZ Post and Kiwibank.”

NZ Post now provides postal services through local businesses such as Paper Plus in many of their 880 postal outlets throughout New Zealand, as a way of being financially sustainable in the face of letter decline.

Rob Clarke from Coastlands Paper Plus said they see real value in partnering with NZ Post.

“We think it’s also good news for our customers, who will be able to do their posting when they are at our store.

“We are also open until 5.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, so our postal customers will be able to enjoy longer opening hours than what they have been used to.”

NZ Post is committed to providing postal services to the wider Ka¯ piti community, which NZ Post recognises as being essential to the community.

Bill payments will also be available from agency partner Moby Dickens’ Bookshop, and postal services will no longer be available at Paraparaumu NZ Post and Kiwibank from October 18.
