Top chef at Ka¯ piti Food Fair
The much-anticipated Ka¯ piti Food Fair is on Saturday in Paraparaumu.
Featuring celebrity chef Brett McGregor of MasterChef New Zealand as the major draw card, fair organisers Helene Judge and Jeanine van Kradenburg are expecting more than 15,000 hungry visitors to browse, buy and tuck in toall the treats from 200-plus vendors.
Brett will be in action throughout the day showing locals his fresh, seasonal and easily achievable cooking style.
“Brett McGregor needs little introduction.
“He describes himself as a MasterChef, author, teacher and a food and wine ambassador,” Jeanine said.
“He will be bringing his belief that food doesn’t have to be complicated to be delicious.”
From 10am to 4pm at Mazengarb Reserve fairgoers can expect to see Brett in action, have a few brews, a wine, a cider or even a Koakoa Limoncello Cocktail in the Tuatara Bar along with a host of other food stalls including sweets, preserves, sauces, baking, ice cream, meats, cheeses, kitchenware and more.
“Previous fairs have attracted a vast range of artisan and commercial products, and this year will be no exception,” Helene said.
The site map includes food codes for the ready-to-eat vendors along with dairy, gluten or sugar free, organic, raw-fresh, vegan and vegetarian options.
Entry for under 18s is free, adults $8 or $12 with a canvas shopping bag. Cash at gate only.
Three stages with Beach FM, the ZEAL Busking Zone, and the Coastella Tiny Town Studio areready to entertain while the kids will be rocking at the three kids’ zones with Bouncy Monkeys and JUMP, Adrenalin Laser and Colossal Circus.
If you’re without a vehicle, you can use the train service and get a free Ka¯ piti Kruzer bus from Paraparaumu Station to the reserve, departing at 10.08am, 11.08am, 12.08pm, 1.08pm, 2.08pm, 3.08pm with return services at 10.38am, 11.38am, 12.38pm, 1.38pm, 2.38pm and 3.38pm.
Once at the fair The Hits Info Hub will be there to help with any visitor inquiries with St John also on-site for any emergency.
