Top chef at Ka¯ piti Food Fair

The much-an­tic­i­pated Ka¯ piti Food Fair is on Satur­day in Para­pa­raumu.

Fea­tur­ing celebrity chef Brett McGre­gor of MasterChef New Zealand as the ma­jor draw card, fair or­gan­is­ers He­lene Judge and Jea­nine van Kraden­burg are ex­pect­ing more than 15,000 hun­gry vis­i­tors to browse, buy and tuck in toall the treats from 200-plus ven­dors.

Brett will be in ac­tion through­out the day show­ing lo­cals his fresh, sea­sonal and eas­ily achiev­able cook­ing style.

“Brett McGre­gor needs lit­tle in­tro­duc­tion.

“He de­scribes him­self as a MasterChef, author, teacher and a food and wine am­bas­sador,” Jea­nine said.

“He will be bring­ing his be­lief that food doesn’t have to be com­pli­cated to be de­li­cious.”

From 10am to 4pm at Mazen­garb Re­serve fair­go­ers can ex­pect to see Brett in ac­tion, have a few brews, a wine, a cider or even a Koakoa Li­mon­cello Cock­tail in the Tu­atara Bar along with a host of other food stalls in­clud­ing sweets, pre­serves, sauces, bak­ing, ice cream, meats, cheeses, kitchen­ware and more.

“Previous fairs have at­tracted a vast range of ar­ti­san and com­mer­cial prod­ucts, and this year will be no ex­cep­tion,” He­lene said.

The site map in­cludes food codes for the ready-to-eat ven­dors along with dairy, gluten or sugar free, or­ganic, raw-fresh, ve­gan and veg­e­tar­ian op­tions.

En­try for un­der 18s is free, adults $8 or $12 with a can­vas shop­ping bag. Cash at gate only.

Three stages with Beach FM, the ZEAL Busk­ing Zone, and the Coast­ella Tiny Town Stu­dio ar­eready to en­ter­tain while the kids will be rock­ing at the three kids’ zones with Bouncy Mon­keys and JUMP, Adrenalin Laser and Colos­sal Cir­cus.

If you’re with­out a ve­hi­cle, you can use the train ser­vice and get a free Ka¯ piti Kruzer bus from Para­pa­raumu Sta­tion to the re­serve, de­part­ing at 10.08am, 11.08am, 12.08pm, 1.08pm, 2.08pm, 3.08pm with re­turn ser­vices at 10.38am, 11.38am, 12.38pm, 1.38pm, 2.38pm and 3.38pm.

Once at the fair The Hits Info Hub will be there to help with any visi­tor in­quiries with St John also on-site for any emer­gency.
