Ka¯ piti Basketball Association entered two 11 and under teams into a regional basketball tournament in Levin recently.

“Both teams performed admirably with one team finishing second and the other team third,” KBA chairman Rob Scriven said.

“The most exciting game was when they played each other in the semi final. It was a very close and a hard fought game with Ka¯ piti Suns white beating Ka¯ piti Suns blue.

“In the final Ka¯ piti Suns white played Raukawa Ki Te Tonga, a team they drew with in the round robin play but fell short 34-30.”

Scriven said it was testament to the growth of the game in Ka¯ piti that they could field two competitive teams at this grade.

“We deliberately tried to even out the teams to give everyone a great experience.

“Well done to all involved.”
