Young plumber in finals

-

A plumber from Paraparaumu has been named as the Lower North Island regional finalist for the Plumbing World Young Plumber of the Year competition.

Brett Trilford, 29, of Easyflow Plumbing and Drainage, will now represent the Lower North Island region in the national finals in October.

Brett will be among the top 10 plumbers from across New Zealand who will participate in the national finals later this year.

This is Brett’s second year competing and first time making it through to the national finals.

“I love this competition because of all the challenges,” he said.

“You get the opportunity to work with different material that you might not normally work with.

“It’s also great experience and a chance to get my name out there, do something different and just enjoy it really.

“I’m nervous, I’ll have to do some study going into the final but I’m really excited to give it a go against the other strong competitors.”

Brett secured his place in the regionals when he took out the competition at the Paraparaumu Plumbing World branch event earlier this year.

The winner of the national finals receives a share in $25,000 worth of prizes, including a trip for two to Beijing, China to attend the Plumbing World overseas trip, a Samsung Galaxy smart watch, Plumbing World shares, over $5000 worth of tools, gift vouchers, safety boots and a one-year subscription to NZ Plumber Magazine.

The winner’s employer will receive Plumbing World shares, $750 voucher to spend on Puma Golf merchandise, fuel vouchers and a one-year supply of Red Bull.
