ARTS CENTRE OPENING SEASON PROGRAMME

-

Sponsored by the Ka¯ piti Coast District Council.

The new centre will be showcasing the building with performances and rehearsals in the major spaces during the open day. There will also be an array of food trucks and entertainment in front of the centre with a special guest cutting the ribbon at 9am.

The first big show on stage will give the project team the chance to thank the wide range of organisations and individuals who participated in the development of the centre — from day one of design to final delivery.

Ka¯ piti College Alumni will present “Project Ex” as bands come together to present four hours of non-stop band entertainment showcasing the Sir Jon Trimmer Contemporary Theatre ‘Black Box’ performance space.

The shows will involve film and live performance and feature a range of local performers and musicians to show the breadth of talent here in Ka¯ piti.

Coastlands has taken naming rights to the main theatre in the centre and are sponsoring both nights to thank seat sponsors.

The Royal New Zealand Ballet will perform as part of Tutus on Tour featuring works tailor-made for the RNZB by trail blazing choreographers at home in New Zealand and on the world stage. Tickets are priced at $27-$37 for adults and $12-$22 for children.

Ka¯ piti College’s 2019 production ‘Parihaka’ achieved rave reviews and will be back with the musicians, cast members and back of house technical expertise all provided by Ka¯ piti College students working to a script by Paora Trim. Tickets will be available in early February.

The NZSO will present a concert to bring the opening season to a dramatic conclusion performing JS Bach’s Goldberg Variations. The NZSO performs this gem of the baroque idiom for regional audiences with the variations performed on a variety of instruments.
