Summer music plays in Maclean Park

The Purebread Summer Music in the Park takes place at Maclean Park, Paraparaum­u Beach on Saturday from 11am to 4pm. Entry is free.

Ka¯ piti-based Latin American Jazz ensemble Brasso opens the event at 11am. Their musical set includes some originals and popular covers with a jazzy twist. Featuring Brasso band member and the founder of Purebread Rob Glensor vocalist / drummer who has assisted with this event. Also featured is local identity David Langley who arranges all music for Brasso, David will be performing on his trumpet/ flugal horn and also sing several numbers. Look Both Ways, another local jazz ensemble of musicians featuring students from Ka¯ piti College, will be performing from noon. This is the first time Look Both Ways will be performing for a Purebread event.

“These young musicians are highly talented and we are very excited to have them performing at this event,” event organiser Chris Craddock said.

At 1pm, Wellington\Ka¯ piti band Bush Faced Munkeyz will entertain, an originals and covers four piece band with a “mellow rocky mix”. This well-known band has performed at many Purebread Festivals. Invited back due popular demand for their mixture of originals and slant on covers.

Another well-known band, Number 8 Wireless, previously known as Space Doubt, will take the stage at 2pm. An originals premium band from Wellington will take the audience to another dimension for this summer musical extravagan­za.

The final band for the afternoon will begin at 3pm when Queen Fox Trio will take the stage. Ka¯ piti-based vocalist Jess
